I always bring my sewing on holidays, though I should know by now that it attracts such a crowd that I’d never get anything done. The last couple of holidays, I have been bringing some books in a horror series to keep me entertained. They’re great fun to read and when I’m done, I leave the book in the hotel library for the next person to enjoy. Lastly, I always bring a puzzle book. I like to put my brain to good use, so doing things like sudoku and the like keeps it ticking over until I get home. They’re very therapeutic things to do too.

When the boss walked into the department a week ago and announced that all of us had to go over to Scotland for two weeks in order to work on a critical business contract, he was meet with enthusiastic applause. We get to go spend time in Scotland on the company’s dime? I’ll do that any day of the week! My boss assured me that we would work like maniacs to get the contract work done so that all of us could spend time taking it easy.
